Your Mac
Which computers are compatible?
The current version requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. No Windows or Intel version is currently supplied. You don’t need to install Python.
SVG and LightBurn
Do I need LightBurn?
No. You can work with SVG files and open the exports in your cutting software. The .lbrn2 workflow is optional.
Which LightBurn projects are compatible?
NestinGain imports and exports compatible .lbrn2 projects, preserving supported paths and layers. Some native objects, text or images need preparation first. Ambiguous objects may be rejected rather than silently changed.
Can I combine files from different projects?
Yes. Set the number of copies for each project independently. When mixing SVG with native LightBurn files, or projects with different native layers, prepare consistent SVG exports where needed. Always check the result before cutting.
Does NestinGain replace LightBurn?
NestinGain prepares part layouts. It doesn’t control the laser. Check power, speed, kerf and cutting order in your laser software.
Calculations and results
Is the layout always the best possible?
The software searches for a layout within your constraints and keeps verified results. There is no guarantee of a global optimum or a consistent percentage saving. The demo shows one particular example.
Can I choose quantities and sheet sizes?
Yes. Adjust individual part quantities and the number of copies of each project, work in millimetres or inches and compare saved sheet sizes. You choose which sheet to use.
Does the website demo include the engine?
No. It shows screenshots and saved results. No private nesting engine is sent to the browser, and visitors’ files aren’t processed on this page.
Your licence
What happens after 18 months?
You can keep using your last eligible version. The period covers included updates, not a monthly subscription. Further updates are optional, with no automatic renewal. Their terms will be announced before any new purchase.
How many Macs does the licence cover?
Choose one, two or three active Macs. The licence is linked to machine activations, not IP addresses. Changing your connection or working elsewhere doesn’t use an extra slot.
How do I change Macs or recover my purchase?
Request your personal link using the email address you bought with. Your customer account gives you access to the licence and lets you release an activation before changing machines.
Do I need a permanent internet connection?
Files are prepared on your Mac. Buying, retrieving your licence and communicating with the service require internet access. The app’s licence validation frequency will be specified before sales open; unlimited offline use isn’t currently promised.
Is the euro price guaranteed?
No. Conversions are estimates and show the rate date; payment remains in CHF. Your payment provider may apply a different rate and fees.
Reviews and discussions
Who can post?
Visitors with a verified email address can submit discussions or replies. Star-rated reviews are reserved for verified purchases. Every contribution stays hidden until Yves approves it; spam and abuse are filtered.
The application and manual currently available are in French. Selecting a language on this website does not change the software’s language. Translations of the software and manual are planned.
A Windows version is in development. It is not available yet, and no release date has been announced.
